There’s an old saying that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree and that definitely applies here. Buildstruct is a family owned and operated business. The principals are Mark Cavey and his wife, Crystal, and both their fathers’ have been involved in the construction industry all their lives. Mark’s father, Laurie, as a supplier of pre-fabricated steel products and Crystal’s father as a builder.
Mark Cavey
With a clear vision of where he was heading Mark has combined wide ranging industry experience with double degree qualifications Bachelor of Computing (Info Systems) and Bachelor of Business (Accounting) as well as an Advanced Diploma of Building Design & Construction to put himself in a strong position to establish and manage his own construction business.
His experience in the steel purlin business, initially with his father and then on his own, allowed an easy transition to the construction of office/warehouses which in turn led to the development of townhouses and most recently eleven 2 & 3 bedroom apartments in Caulfield and twelve 2 & 3 bedroom apartments in Carnegie.
Mark believes the keys to ensuring BuildStruct achieves long term success as a property development company are firstly, maintaining a vision of where he it wants to go; secondly, monitoring the changes that are happening in the market; thirdly, detailed planning followed by strong onsite management during construction; and lastly, careful financial management of the business and the projects it undertakes.
Dino Rachele
Dino is another member of the BuildStruct team with both formal qualifications (Bachelor of Business – Monash University and TAFE Certificate IV in Building) and almost 20 years of experience, the majority of it gained on residential building sites.
Dino is a registered domestic builder and a highly experienced site supervisor /manager who has worked for leading home construction companies building 100-150 homes a year.
Laurie Cavey
Mark’s father, Laurie, can fall back on a 45 year history as a successful supplier to the building industry in his role with BuildStruct. After a number of years with Stramit, Laurie struck out with his own steel purlin roll forming business. As a result, he has extensive knowledge of hard construction design and the use of steel and concrete construction processes.
He understands how to read and work with architectural & engineering drawings, and has the ability to see innovative and cost effective solutions to construction problems particularly in regard to building structure.
Crystal Cavey
Crystal’s role in Buildstruct is twofold. Firstly, she manages all the accounting duties ensuring that suppliers and sub-contractors are paid on time. Secondly, with a clear understanding of what buyers are looking for she works closely with our Interior Designers in the areas of kitchen design, bathroom design, and the selection of appliances and soft furnishings.
She is also involved in a 100 lot house & land sub division in Warrnambool with her family.
